THE MOTEL ON DVD

Finally! You can now buy, rent, steal the film for your very own home use. Palm Pictures releases the DVD filled with extras including Commentary with director Michael Kang and actors Sung Kang and Jeffrey Chyau, Behind the Scenes Making Of Documentary and more.

Available where most DVDs are available.

Yes, it's true! The Motel, the film you have seen and loved over the past year at numerous film festivals or have been eagerly awaiting, has finally made its way into the regular movie houses.

HURRAY FOR HOLLYWOOD!

May 2006

Leading up to our long-awaited theatrical debut, The Motel made a pit stop at The VC Film Festival, the premiere Asian American film festival in Los Angeles, and took home the jury prize for Best Narrative Feature.

What a great way to round out our festival life and transition into our theatrical run. Thank you VC!

O CANADA!

November 2005

After a successful journey around the world (including a stop at the San Diego Asian Film Festival where The Motel was the recipient of The Best Dramatic Narrative Feature Award), The Motel travels to the great white north for two of the most prominent Asian American Film Festivals Canada has to offer.

The Motel is proud to be presented as the Opening Night Film for both The Vancouver Asian Film Festival and The Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival.

FESTIVALS GALORE

October 2005

The Motel makes an OctoberFest-ival tour from the nation's capitol Washington DC where the film will open the DC APA Film Festival to the Pusan International Film Festival where it will act as the U.S. representative in a special program of World Cinema. And then returns to America with a relaxing tan and surf at the Hawaii International Film Festival. The journey began in San Diego at the San Diego Asian Film Festival on October 1st.

HUMANITAS PRIZE

June 2005

The Motel wins The Humanitas Prize in the Sundance Feature Film Categroy. Past winners include "Real Women Have Curves," "The Whale Rider" and "Love And Basketball."
The Humanitas Prize exists to "honor excellence in film & television writing. Stories that affirm the human person, probe the meaning of life, and enlighten the use of human freedom. The stories reveal common humanity, so that love may come to permeate the human family and help liberate, enrich and unify society."

I LEFT MY HEART IN SAN FRANCISCO... BUT TOOK AWAY AN AWARD

March 2005

The Motel wins the "Best Narrative Feature Award" from the The San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival. NAATA is one of the premiere organizations supporting Asian American cinema. This is the first year that they have had a competition. It is a great honor to be the first ever to receive the award.

2005 IFP INDEPENDENT PRODUCERS AWARD

February 25-27, 2005

Producer Gina Kwon received the eighth annual Bravo/American Express Producers Award at the 2005 IFP Independent Spirit Awards, which honors producers who, despite highly limited resources, demonstrate the creativity, tenacity, and vision required to produce quality independent films.

2005 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL

January 20-30, 2005

"The Motel" will make its world premiere in the "American Spectrum" section at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, Monday, January 24th at 5:30pm at the Library Center Theatre.
